About the Orchestra

The orchestra presents a series of three programs during the season with each series performed at a number of locations in the area.

For additional information on our upcoming concerts and program go to our Concerts page.

All members of the orchestra donate their time. For anyone interested in joining the orchestra, we currently have opening for all string players, including the violin, viola, cello and string bass sections. We also need additional percussion players.

Contact us to discuss this further. Other musicians may also contact us to discuss openings in our orchestra.

Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:15pm-9:30pm at

Grace Lutheran Church, 1812 North Highland Avenue, Clearwater 33755-2136. Map

Remember to bring a stand and be prepared to play some challenging music!

Our History

In The Beginning

The history of the Suncoast Symphony Orchestra really begins with the Clearwater Symphony Orchestra. The Clearwater Symphony was founded in 1984 by a small group of musicians and educators wishing to provide an outlet for the performance of symphonic music in the community. The first program was presented in 1985 at the Royalty Theatre in downtown Clearwater. Since then the orchestra has performed in many locations in the Dunedin-Largo-Clearwater-Palm Harbor-Oldsmar area, and also at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg.

Name Change

Near the end of the 1993-94 season, the orchestra changed its name to the Suncoast Symphony Orchestra to better reach the Greater Tampa Bay Community.

Your generous donation to the Suncoast Symphony Orchestra (501c3) is tax deductible.

We THANK YOU for making our community concerts possible!
